All-Ages Poetry Workshop and Fiddle Concert

November 19 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

On Tuesday, November 19, Alaska’s Fiddling Poet Ken Waldman is hosting a special writing workshop and fiddle concert at Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library! We’re so excited about this evening of fun, inspiration and surprises that we’re staying open late!

Waldman has released nine albums that mix old-time Appalachian-style, string-band music with original Alaska-based story-telling. Since 1995, he’s toured full-time, performing at some of the nation’s leading universities, festivals, arts centers, and clubs. He’s been compared to such icons as John Hartford, Garrison Keillor, Ken Burns and John Hartford.

At 5 p.m., join us for a free poetry workshop where Waldman will not only help you begin four new pieces, but he’ll teach you strategies to begin many more. This 90-minute session is open to writers of all levels and experience.

Then at 6:30, Waldman will be joined by cellist, fiddler and mandolin player Lizzie Thompson, to treat you to a free concert! For attendees, it will feel like taking a cruise to Alaska, but without the time or expense! Get a sneak peek of their music at: www.kenwaldman.com/lizzie-ken
