Congratulations! Two writers active in the Johnston County Writers Group have won ribbons in the Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield’s 2018 Poetry Contest! Four Oaks writer T.C. Carter won first place (and a $25 Amazon gift card!) for his poem, “Victorville.” Cleveland area writer Gabrielle Rose Bryant won third place in the teen division (grades 9-12) with her poem, “There is Never Enough Time in the Day.” Both writers have performed at fourth Friday Open Mics in Selma. Hear all the winners read their winning poems (and bring a poem of your own to share) on Saturday, August 4, starting at 2 p.m. at the library, 305 E. Market Street in Smithfield. Light refreshments will be served. Open to the public. See more at www.pljcs.org or see photos of the Poetry Contest entries on the library’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/pljcs.
