A brand-new transportation bus was recently given to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Johnston County by an anonymous donor.
The addition will enhance the Club’s ability to serve hundreds of youth in Selma, Smithfield and surrounding communities. The generous contribution ensures more Johnston County youth have safe and reliable access to field trips and enrichment opportunities.
The new bus significantly expands the Club’s transportation capacity, making it possible to reach even more youth who need consistent, supportive and engaging programs that build academic success, healthy lifestyles and strong character.
“This new bus is more than just a vehicle — it’s a bridge to opportunity,” said Lynn Stanley, Resource Development and Community Engagement Assistant. “Thanks to our donors’ generosity, we can now ensure that no member misses out on the transformative experiences our Clubs provide. Whether it’s a ride to a STEM workshop, a swim class or a field trip, this bus helps us fulfill our mission of being there for the youth who need us most.”
The Boys & Girls Clubs serve 250 youth annually at the Selma Community Club and South Smithfield Elementary School locations. Offering programs for as little as $7.50 yearly during the school year and $25 per week during summer camp. Transportation is among the most significant barriers to participation for many families in Johnston County. This donation helps eliminate that challenge.
