Experiments in Mixed Media with Oil and Cold wax

Adult Class $85/person This workshop will introduce you to ways to paint in oil and cold wax using various mixed media as a way to enhance your paintings. While we will cover some of the basics, cold wax application methods, as well ascolor and composition. We will also do exercises designed to expandyour creativity. You’ll learnways to make rich textures by incorporating paper and found objectscollage, sand, and a variety of other materials. This workshop willoffer discussions/demos, lots of studio painting time, as well as individual critique concerning yourown personal direction in your art making. We will work on both panels and paper. All supplies to create up to 3 original paintings are included and no previous art experience necessary.You may also bring in a gessoed cradled wood panel (up to 16x16 in size) if you prefer. *You may want to wear old clothes because our process could get messy. Below are some items that you may want to bring, but it is optional: Gloves or protectivecream for hands Notebook or sketchbook for taking notes and keeping ideas. Anything that you think might make interesting textures (stencils, skewer sticks, etc) (I will bring plenty). Any special collage papers or fabric scraps thatyou already have on hand. Sip and Spin – Wheel Throwing Fun Night

Enjoy your favorite adult beverage while you (wheel)throw down! Getto know the pottery wheel in thisfun, adult only class. You'll learn how to wedge, center, and pull walls in a participation style demonstration. Students will then be set free with multiple balls of clay to practice until their heart’s content (and 8:30pm:). Event isBYOB and Snacks! Feel free to bring a small cooler to keep beverages cool. Guidance will be provided throughout class. All experience levels and questions are welcomed! Students may choose one piece to be finished by staff. They will hand trim and glaze your piece with one glaze of your choice. We use glazes that are considered food safe. Projects will be made with a strong stoneware clay that turns white once fired in the kiln. Dressingfor a messy class is recommended. Join us in Artmosphere’s new clay studio space!
