Smithfield-based Coates Hearing Clinic has become the first audiology practice in the nation to receive Audiology Practice Accreditation from the Academy of Doctors of Audiology.
The accreditation recognizes practices that meet rigorous standards for patient care, clinical services, facilities, practice administration and quality improvement. The new program was developed through expert consensus and peer review to promote consistent, evidence-based hearing healthcare.
Coates Hearing Clinic opened its first location in Smithfield in 2019 and has since expanded to Goldsboro, Lillington and Clayton. The practice offers hearing evaluations, hearing aids, tinnitus treatment, balance assessments and cochlear implant services.
“We’ve been committed to bringing world-class, evidence-based hearing healthcare to our community from the start,” said Dr. Kathleen Coates, co-owner and audiologist. CEO and co-owner Jordan Coates credited the clinic’s staff for helping earn the distinction, saying the honor reflects the team’s commitment to serving patients with excellence and compassion.
The accreditation is awarded for a three-year term. Coates Hearing Clinic also pledges at least 5% of its monthly profits to local churches and nonprofit organizations through its Coates Community Giving Pledge.
