Heather Hall embraces leadership role with JCBIA

Heather Hall has always loved a good puzzle — the more complex, the better. It’s a fitting passion for someone whose career centers on bringing individual pieces together to create something beautiful and whole.

As a residential designer and owner of H Squared Home Design, Inc., Hall helps clients turn ideas, needs and dreams into thoughtfully designed homes.

Building a home is stressful enough, she believes, so her goal is to help clients make confident decisions while keeping the experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible. With a creative eye and a natural desire to serve others, Hall focuses not just on design, but on the people behind it.

That same heart for service led her to the Johnston County Home Builders Association, shortly after she launched her business from her Benson home in 2002. She quickly became involved, volunteering with the Parade of Homes and serving on multiple committees. By 2008, she joined the board of directors, beginning more than a decade of leadership service.

During those years, the organization evolved into the Johnston County Building Industry Association.

It wasn’t long before she was asked to take on even greater roles, and in Jan. 2026, she was installed as JCBIA president, becoming only the second female president in the association’s 47-year history, and the first since Ruth Anderson broke that barrier in 1991, exactly 35 years earlier.

“Heather’s presidency marks a meaningful moment for the Johnston County Building Industry Association. As only the second woman president in our 47-year history, she leads by example with integrity, energy and a genuine passion for the Association. She truly believes we are better together,” said JCBIA Executive Officer Deborah Alford.

Hall’s path wasn’t built overnight. Early on, she drove through new subdivisions handing out business cards to builders, simply hoping for an opportunity to design a home. Over time, through persistence and relationship building, she became one of the most sought-after designers in Johnston County. She credits her success to God’s grace, the support of her husband and co-worker, the JCBIA and hard work.

“I always want to give my very best to everything I do — marriage, business, church, volunteering. I do it all for the glory of God! He’s blessed me beyond measure so I want to give back and bless others as much as I can,” she said.

“For all the women in the building industry, don’t be afraid. You’ll hear the word ‘No’ at some point but it’s probably because they don’t know you yet. Show them how fierce you are and keep working for that ‘Yes!’”

As president this year, Hall’s motto for JCBIA is “Better Together.” Success, she believes, comes when everyone brings their strengths and supports one another.
