JoCo Sports to launch weekly podcast for high school football season

JoCo Sports, a division of JNOW Media, plans to start a weekly high school football podcast for the 2025 season.

“After a couple of years of doing a Game of the Week live broadcast, we wanted to change things up a bit,” JoCo Sports Publisher Randy Capps said. “We like the idea of covering the county’s public schools during football season, but there are already outlets doing a good job with live games. We wanted to see if we could fill another niche.”

The podcast will feature previews of the games coming up, as well as analysis and recaps of the previous week’s contests.

“We’re already doing a lot of that on the regular JoCo Sports website, so this will really just be packaging it in a different way,” Capps said. “After more than 30 years covering preps, it’s sort of a passion project for me.”

The show will also feature coaches and media members to help break down the games from the eight traditional public schools, as well as American Leadership Academy, which will play as a full North Carolina High School Athletic Association member this fall.

“With the new eight-classification system and a bunch of new conferences to keep track of, it should be an interesting season,” Capps said. “It will be here before we know it.”
