For a couple of years, we did February issues loosely themed around Valentine’s Day. In 2021, we did Love Letters, and I wrote one to my lovely bride.
The next year, I told the story of our first date. It was a magical and life changing night, and it’s a story that folks who frequent these pages often have already read.
This year, as you no doubt gleaned from the cover, we aren’t doing that sort of theme. At least, no one else is.
As I write this, it’s nine days shy of our 26th wedding anniversary. Lots of people say sentimental things about their significant other on such occasions, so I’m hardly breaking new ground.
I have lived an amazing professional life. I’m sitting in an office of a media company I own, working on a magazine I helped found while putting off some important website work for one of our many clients.
I’m the proud father of an incredible son, my resume, if one was needed, would be littered with a slew of press awards from a decades-long career of putting words to paper.
I’m sneaking up on 50, but I’m healthy and I’m happy.
And I owe it all to the remarkable woman sitting in the office next to this one. As I pointed out in the love letter five years ago, she is the glue. She makes the good ship JNOW float. She’s the straw that stirs the drink — you get the idea.
But my favorite part of our story is the fact that, before either of us became small town famous, we saw the best in each other. We imagined what we could be — together — and started building.
My wife is amazing, and I’m grateful to be married to my best friend.
Thanks for reading!
