Susan Perdue, a Business and Marketing teacher at Clayton High School, has been named Johnston County Public Schools’ 2025 Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year. With eight years of teaching experience, Perdue leads classes in entrepreneurship and business management and serves as the school’s DECA adviser.
Before entering education, Perdue worked in finance at a credit union—a background that enriches her teaching and connects her to students’ real-world experiences. She’s passionate about helping students prepare for successful futures through practical, career-focused instruction.
Described as a “Teacher Leader,” Perdue mentors fellow educators, guides the district’s business teacher community, and supports student organizations like DECA and FBLA.
As district honoree, Perdue will advance to the state level, where she’ll compete for the North Carolina CTE Teacher of the Year title this December.
