Calling all witches, goblins and ghouls! You're invited to the Downtown Smithfield Candy Crawl from 4-6pm on Friday, October 27! In partnership with our downtown businesses, the Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation is hosting trick-or-treating for costumed participants in Downtown Smithfield. The Johnston County Branch of the NAACP invites you to participate in the 2023 Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Parade in Smithfield on Feb 25. The parade will begin promptly at 3 p.m. and follow a route from 6th Street onto Market Street and ending on 2nd Street. There is no cost to participate, and the lineup for all participants will begin promptly at 1:30 p.m. Entries of cars, bicycles, trucks, trailers and walking groups are welcome. The organizational focus is to be inclusive and we want to engage many segments of the community. This includes all of the county and federal elected officials in Johnston County, local businesses, church groups, civic organizations, youth groups, school bands, and all others who wish to participate. Neuse Little Theatre will hold auditions for "Monte Carlo" Monday & Tuesday, Dec. 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. at the Hut at the corner of Front and Market streets in Smithfield. The cast will include two males and four females. All roles are open. Casting is open to everyone and newcomers are especially welcomed and encouraged. Crew volunteers are also needed. Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script. Please come prepared to tell of any conflict dates you have from auditions to final show date.
