Paws for Reading

From July 15 through July 20, Read to Grow Johnston County will celebrate National Summer Learning Week by hosting its 4th annual Paw for Reading Events. All week long, children up to age eight will have the chance to adopt a stuffed pet and promise to read to them for 20 minutes a day throughout the summer. Each event will have a reading from a guest speaker, including local mayors, council members and community leaders. These events are free and do not require registration. Child Wellness and Resource event

Join the Local Interagency Coordinating Council (LICC) for their Child Wellness and Resource Event on Saturday, June 22nd. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., families can visit the Partnership for Children office to have hearing, vision and developmental screenings for children ages 3-5 at no cost. These exams will help to determine areas of concern that a child may be facing and allow families to connect with helpful resources.
