CLAYTON – The Clayton Clovers are back at East Clayton Community Park bringing all the action for their 2025 season. The team kicks off their home games Sunday, May 25 against the Wake Forest Fungo.
Founded in 2021 by Louis DeCarolis and Caleb Sharp, the Clovers have quickly become a cornerstone of Clayton’s summer sports scene. With a roster that blends local talent with players from college programs across the country, the team provides thrilling baseball moments. After winning the 2024 Old North State League (ONSL) Championship, a prestigious title in collegiate summer baseball, the Clovers are hungry for another successful season.
Local players like Hugh Collins are thrilled to play for the Clovers in their hometown. “It means everything to be able to wear Clayton across my chest again,” said Collins, a Redshirt Freshman pitcher from UNC Chapel Hill and Pitt Community College. “There is no better feeling than playing in front of my hometown crowd. I really enjoy being alongside so many friends I grew up with since little league.”
For players like Hayden Myrick, a Senior pitcher from Mount Olive, Clayton has always held a special place in his heart. “Clayton has always been home. I loved being a Comet, and I loved being a Clover. It was a full-circle moment for me to play in the inaugural season with the Clovers and win that championship. I get to go back to games with my parents and support these guys the same way they supported me, and that’s what it’s all about.”
“I am excited to be back with the Clovers for my third season,” said Alex Levesque, a Sophomore catcher from William Peace University. “The local community always comes out to support the team, which makes playing in Clayton a great experience. I am hoping to bring another championship home this summer!”
The Clovers’ influence extends beyond the field, engaging with local businesses, hosting youth clinics and offering a fun, kid-friendly environment at every game.
East Clayton Community Park is the perfect venue for the team, according to Parks and Recreation Director Scott Barnard. With its well-maintained diamond and spacious dugouts that provide comfort and equipment storage, the park sets the stage for the Clovers’ home games. Spectator seating ensures great views, and the PA system keeps fans connected to the action.
“The Town of Clayton is proud to partner with the Clovers and maintain a top-tier facility that enhances the game-day experience for fans and players alike,” Barnard said. “We’re committed to keeping the park in great shape, so every game is a celebration of community and sportsmanship.”
